White Rock Torn Down

As part of a wave of urban renewal that swept the country on the heels of the civil rights movement, cities like Durham, NC began razing swaths of long- established communities to make way for roads that would connect increasing suburban development to cities. The White Rock Baptist Church Sanctuary was torn down to make way for the Durham Freeway.
