Grades 8-12

Grades 8-12 Teacher Professional Development & Instructional Units

During the academic year of 2020-2021, the vMLK team developed a pilot project with the faculty at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School, utilizing the vMLK website to enhance units in Language Arts and Social Studies/History. The vMLK team developed an orientation for the faculty in these areas and implemented it over Zoom. They also developed complete units based on learning outcomes indicated by the faculty. The materials here can be utilized by 8-12 instructors who wish to provide students with significant historical, language arts and social studies knowledge through the vMLK Project’s embodied learning experiences. For 2022, the vMLK Project is working to expand the reach of the units and is offering a no-cost professional development opportunity for North Carolina teachers of social studies and history for grades 8-12.
